I was just out shoveling the drive since it snowed here yet again. This sweet old man was walking his dog on the other side of the street so I said hello. I thought it the neighborly thing to do. He yelled from across the street to me something I couldn't quite hear. When I asked him to repeat it he said, "that's a man's job," in reference to my shoveling the drive.
How does one respond to a statement like this? I just said, as polite as possible, "oh, okay." He shuffled on down the street and I was left feeling incredibly awkward. Do you ever have moments like this where you just have no idea how to respond?
