Photography Friday: Scott & Jenna

This wedding was one of my favorites from the season.  Jenna was absolutely gorgeous and I was in love with her dress and details- girl's got style.  But on top of looking fabulous she was absolutely a joy to work with.  She and Scott were so willing to do whatever we asked to get a good shot.  She married at the Autumn Ridge chapel - the same place her parents married one another and her reception was out at the Somerby Golf Course.  We took a tiny detour that wedding day to Mayowood Mansion and got some awesome stuff with Jenna, Scott and their bridal party.  Such a fun day.  Such a lovely couple.

Once grumpy... now happy.

Strong Man

Don't mind the ridiculous adorableness and mild lack of focus of that  second photo.  Just baby modeling a hat from Sarah Hightower.  Thanks Sarah!  Top photo shows little man's strength and determination.  This was right before he walked into the kitchen and made himself a sandwich.

Prepare yourself...

This lady got an iPhone.  Cue to the balloon

After entering all my contacts, using FaceTime with my husband and taking several photos the dang thing stopped working.  I was tempted with the sweet sensation of the world at my fingertips only to have the world come to a screeching halt in a matter of seven hours.  Dramatic.  Yes.

I was grumpy this morning thinking about taking the phone to the Sprint store to have it looked at and having to wait until 9am to chat with a Sprint expert online.  Don't they know my baby wakes me promptly at 6:45am in the morning?

So, after taking a good hard look at my grumpiness I realized I am a DIVA.  When you look at my problematic home key on my iPhone and compare it to real problems I am shamed by my Sara-centric mental meltdown.  (There was not actual physical tantrum- but if I was two you would better believe I'd have spent the morning in time out thinking about controlling my emotions.)

Nothing like a little Pinterest to pick my spirits back up again and help put life in perspective.

I  couldn't physically get the fourth one out when reading these to my husband.  It just hits a little too close to home.  Aaaaaaaand I just shared too much.

Hope we can still be friends.

Stay tuned for up to date pics and videos via my phone.  Yeah, things just got REAL.

Photography Friday: John & Emma

So I work part time as a photographer for Midwest LifeShots.  I love my job.  I love my bosses.  I love the studio.  We do such quality work for our clients and we fall in love with them.  I am amazed at how quickly we can create a lasting friendship when we shoot a wedding or session.  I want to share our work with you.  It's such a rewarding job and I am so proud to be part of this team.  Please know that the sessions and weddings I share are a collaborative effort.  Not all photographs were taken by me.  All parts of our photography team have touched each image.  All images are copyright of Midwest LifeShots.  I hope you enjoy these feature Fridays.  These are just a tiny snippet of the work we do.  All sessions and weddings I share are ones when I was the second shooter.

John and Emma were such a sweet couple.  These two were so tender with one another and there was a genuine joy throughout the day.  Emma was a beautiful and gracious bride who had such an appreciation not only for her groom but the family and friends were were in attendance on her big day.  She had a simple elegance about her and seemed calm and cool the whole day.

The reception was held at John's parents house in the backyard under a white tent.  The reception definitely fit the laid back attitude of the bride and groom.  Guests enjoyed themselves on the dance floor well into the evening.

John and Emma's bridal party was UP FOR ANYTHING.  Oh my word, they know how to have fun! What a gracious and goofy group.

count your blessings

Thankful for so much.

Ben, Meet the Original Ben

So our friends came though town on their way North for Thanksgiving.  Sarah and Ben were playmates of Lakin and I's when they lived in Rochester.  They now reside in St. Louis for Sarah's husband to complete Fellowship (will the schooling ever end of the these over-achievers?).  While their visit was brief, it was memorable.  It was great seeing you and getting to spend time together.
Annalee and her mom (another Sarah!) came to play too.  We introduced Annalee to high heels.
Whose child is that with the Ariel sticker, backwards tiara and red headband???
 Future physician?
High heel pals.

Just Because You're Preggie Doesn't Mean You Can't Have Fun Alternately Titled: Getting Jiggy With It Pregnancy Style

While I am no longer pregnant, many of my Rochester friends currently are.  It is CRAZY.  We held a special shower for my girl, Sara (long time reader of this here blog), and it was our "coming out" shower.  See, up until this point, shower throwing responsibilities landed on our older Uro department ladies. So it being our first shower to host, we wanted to enter the party throwing ring with a bang.

Lindy and Libby were my co-hosts and fellow brains behind this party theme.  It really centered around the mocktails served in fancy glasses dreamed up by the beverage master herself, Lindy.  We were sipping mocktails with sophistication and throwing around labor advice like bosses.  So, yeah, I'd say it was a success.

The sweet momma-to-be of honor, Sara.
Casey with the Cosmos.
 Kamber and sweet McKinley.
We can't wait to find out what Sara and Marce are having.  The nerve of these parents who make us wait until the birth!

Mix master, Lindy, at work making a blue raspberry lemonade.

 Fancy pants.
 Yeah, it's a penguin.  #awesomesauce.
Spa water, Blue Raspberry Lemonade and Cosmopolitan Charade.  Check out those drink garnishes.  We don't mess around.

 Glitter nails say, "Let's party."

tiny baby bump and a mocktail

 baby chillaxing.
 It's a Moby wrap!
 Say what?
Catherine and Sophia enjoying some popcorn and quality company.
No they didn't just put a mustache on a pacifier.  Boom!
Sophia's hair was the envy of the party.  What does that girl do to get volume like that?  Do tell.
