In pictures: the mc hammer hair

After bath we tried a new style. Dad is not a fan. Can't get it to lay back down.

Our God is good

Sometimes God uses something very tangible to remind you that he loves you and hasn't forgotten about you. I have some dear friends who are pretty good at being his hands and feet. After a day of toddler drama and parenthood trenches these Pinterest inspired beauties show up on my doorstep. Right in the middle of my time in the Word because I am in need of all the wisdom and encouragement I can get. Speechless.

The Anatomy of a Gigi Portrait

First, we begin with my most civilized tiny human.
Not to be outdone, my least civilized tiny human asks to get a photo with Gigi too.
 Things get silly...
And even more silly...
until we end up with this gem of a photo.

Ben hangs with me

Ben likes to hang out in my nap time nest when he wakes. We're pretty much best friends.

Bennett: 7 Months

Little Mister is seven months today and despite the fact that it's ugly outside (snow and ice) it's pretty dang adorable in here.  This guy is seriously catching up with his sister in personality and energy.  He's currently into screaming.  All the time, always joyful, always LOUD.  Chris' parents were here for a week and Ben's happy screech woke them up quite early most days.

He is grabbing and looking to snag anything within reach, including sister's hair any time she dares to come close.  I pried a handful of her sweet locks from his death grip just the other day.  The days of holding Ben while enjoying coffee, a book, or really, just about anything, are over.  Little man is definitely strong and determined (sounds like someone else I know whose name rhymes with fakin').

Bennett has taken to his solid food and will grunt and wrestle his way though every meal.  He's always disappointed when I get to the last spoonful of the bowl and sometimes aggressively grabs my hand and pulls it to his mouth if I'm not feeding him fast enough.  I feel like I'm feeding a goat at the petting zoo most days.

He's sitting completely unsupported and totally uninterested in laying on his back or tummy.  He can roll and will only do so if absolutely necessary.  Otherwise, he prefers to be upright, either sitting or standing in the exosaucer.

In big and exciting news, Bennett rode in the big kid seat of the Target shopping cart.  Lakin was not too fond of the new seating arrangement and was quite resentful of her brother's constant probing and attempt at hand holding.  It was a tiny glimpse into the joys of siblinghood to come.

B-Town just had his 6 month doctor visit and an ear infection was discovered.  Since starting antibiotics some of his eye funk has cleared itself.  He proved to be a boss on the growth chart and to hate shots.  In true typical Jaeger family fashion.

My favorite thing about Bennett is how happy he is to see me each morning.  My least favorite thing is that he has recently started peeing on me during every diaper change.  Cool trick, Ben, but enough is enough.

Mall of America

Last Wednesday we went with Chris' dad to the Mall of America to enjoy the rides at Nickelodeon Universe.  I was worried Lakin would be too young to appreciate the rides but there was plenty for her to enjoy and she had herself a wonderful time.

She's small enough to be able to take a chaperone on most rides without extra charge.  Papa, Daddy and I all took turns riding with her.  I was so proud of her courage with the rides and she did a great job being okay with leaving at the end of our time in the amusement park.

First ride of the day: Blue's Skiddo with flying dogs.  It was pretty much as awesome as you might imagine it to be.
Always with the tongue out, this one.
I got a little crazy with those turns.  I was clearly the only adult enjoying this ride.
We hit up the classic carrousel.
Daddy took Lakin on the giant Dora Ferris Wheel.  From up there they had a spectacular view of the entire amusement park.

 The twins.
Lakin's favorite ride by far was the Backyardigans' ride that shot kids straight up into the air and would rise and drop over and over.  Think Baby Detonator for all your Worlds of Fun fans.  She just barely met the height requirements and had to ride alone.  She was watching Chris the whole time and was so excited.  I was a bit nervous that she'd flip once the ride really started bouncing but the kid loved it.  Of course.  Lakin eats danger for breakfast and then begs for more.

I definitely think we'll be back sometime.  It was the perfect getaway for the day and a memory Lakin keeps talking about.

Costco

Easter Recap

Been a little MIA lately since we've had family in town and I was busy with a monster work design project.  But I'm baaaack.

Easter was so fun this year.  Chris' parents were here and we had several friends over for Easter brunch.  The menu was eggs, eggs, and more eggs.  You know, we're pretty traditional around here.

The afternoon before, we dyed easter eggs and Lakin loved every part of the messy venture.

Don't let these picturesque eggs fool you.  They were boogers to peel.  How is it that I always have to look up how to boil eggs?  Seems pretty straight forward.  I welcome any recipes you might suggest.

Easter morning we attended services at our church and came home to start cooking.  In typical Jaeger fashion we served party potatoes, the best egg bake known to man (thanks Aunt Cheryl), deviled eggs, mimosas, and fruit and french toast bake provided by some of our guests.

Wish I could show you the spread but it was gobbled before I thought to document.

Lakin's good friend, Annie, came to celebrate and the girls went on a pretty tricky egg hunt in the basement.  About halfway through Lakin discovered there was candy in the eggs and would open each one, pop the candy in her mouth and discard the egg on the ground.  Sweet Annie offered her candy to everyone in the room.  Don't think she even put a piece in her mouth.

Doesn't Lakin just look thrilled.  Hmmmmmm

 Watching the hilarious egg hunt.
 Tricky, tricky.

All of Annie's candy ended up under the couch cushions.

 Candy jackpot.
Lindy enjoys some of Annie's candy offering.

So good to be with friends and family.  We sat around, watched some March Madness and I fell asleep with my mouth open so, yeah, it was a pretty successful holiday.
